Sunday Salon - Taking Some Time Off

It has been so busy last week that I haven't even been able to finish my review for Grotesque, a fascinating book with severely damaged characters.

I have to take some more time: nothing bad has happened, just life catching up. The fires are out in our area and there is ash everywhere. We just bought a new steam cleaner and vacuum because it even got in the house. I never thought it would be so wonderful to clean!

Our town is getting ready for the now famous Gilroy Garlic Festival and there is road work, power outages, and all sorts of inconveniences as we ready ourselves. In fact, that is why I am posting so late in the day......another outage. This year we are volunteering at the festival and tomorrow will find out whether we will be selling cookbooks or sitting in the Information Booth.

I started an eBay business and it has taken off like mad. I had no idea about things like PayPal, shipping costs for international orders, and the lots and lots of questions potential buyers ask so I am adjusting to that.

I will still be participating in the Slaves of Golconda discussion of Glimpses of the Moon and hopefully finish the Grotesque reveiw. Other than that I am on a working vacation. See you all soon!

Hi, Jaimie! I am glad the fires around you are finally out. It's been crazy up your way and even farther north. My heart goes out to all those impacted by the fires.

I would love to attend the Garlic Festival one day. I hope you have a good time!

What kind of eBay business are you running? I wish you luck with that!

Jaimie, I'm glad to hear the fires are out. It must be tiring cleaning up the house with the ashes and everything.

Wishing you all the best with your eBay business! :)

Wendy - Thanks! I hope you can make it to Gilroy one day!
For eBay I have several figurine collections that I aquired years ago at extremely low prices. They are going first. After that I have several ideas but haven't made final decisions yet.

Melody - Slowly the ash is clearing but I still have that gritty feeling in my mouth. Thanks for the encouragement on eBay!

A garlic festival? Please, I really need to know more. It sounds fascinating.

Table Talk - Here is the address.

It has been featured on a couple of food network programs. The food is unbelievable! We have a televised cook-off and tons of stands to get garlicky goodness!

Our town's favorite hands-down is the pepper steak sandwich. Working people often send in one person from their store or office to get a bag full of them!

Wow, I haven't been to the Gilroy Garlic Festival since I was in college. I'll bet it's grown! Good luck with eBay--that sounds great!

Sorry to hear about all the ash. It's been a crazy spring and summer, hasn't it. I hope things slow down for you. And I can't wait to hear about Grotesque--I have that on my TBR pile, too! Have a nice 4th!

Gentle Reader - It has grown alot! I hope you can visit again sometime!

Danielle - Compared to the floods in the midwest and the tornados, I guess I shouldn't complain too much. And yes, it has been a spring and summer for the books!
